This programme is suitable for anyone aged between 16 and 19 is leaving school or college and is interested in learning a trade by completing a construction apprenticeship. Training in construction apprenticeship programmes lasts for three to four years and covers a variety of trades:
- electricians
- gas fitters
- horticulturists
- mechanics
- plumbers
- joiners
We can help you to learn:
- the practical skills to work safely within the construction industry
- how to work with other people
- work in a construction setting
- gain a modern apprenticeship and SVQ Level 3 qualification in the specified trade
- take more advanced qualifications
- secure employment with the Council (depending on job availability)
- paying you an apprentice rate based on tradesman’s rate
- paying for your travelling expenses to and from college
- providing advice and guidance through your vocational training officer
- supplying protective clothing and helping with tool purchase
- arranging additional training if needed
- arranging final trade tests
The next apprenticeship intake will be in April 2009.
