Here is a list of voluntary organisations operating locally and nationally with information about the work they do.

Local organisations

Renfrewshire Council for Voluntary Services (RCVS) was set up to service the needs of Renfrewshire voluntary and community sector. Amongst its many functions it provides help in starting new voluntary groups and provides guidance and training on local and national funding resources. It also works closely with the Local Authority on the community plan and promotes community learning.

RCHI - support local communities to address inequalities in health and take action on health issues. They have two active projects: 'Health Directions' works to improve health choices by promoting healthy living and 'Community Health in Linwood' (CHIL) supports and assists Linwood residents in improving their own health and wellbeing. Scottish organisations

St Andrews Ambulance Association Renfrew Corps run First Aid classes from Renfrew town hall teaching vital first aid skills. They are always looking to recruit new members at any experience level to learn First Aid and to attend events such as T in the Park, premier league and first division football matches and local gala days.

Workwithus.org is a portal to Scotland's voluntary sector. It provides details of organisations and charities, projects that are going on, how to get involved by doing voluntary or paid work, and much more.

Volunteer Scotland is the web site for various voluntary and community organisations in Scotland. Has information on how groups can get funding and provides a directory of ethnic organisations.

National organisations

The Princes Trust - helping young people who have had problems or who are disadvantaged achieve their full potential. This includes helping with education, starting up your own business, doing community or voluntary work in Britain and overseas, courses to help you get involved in areas such as the music business helping those who have been in care, and much more.

VSO - the web site about voluntary work overseas. It provides information on what work is done and how to get involved.
