Lots of different organisations provide services to local people. Many of the issues which affect people's quality of life, such as employment, childcare, crime, drugs and health, cannot be dealt with by organisations working on their own. If services are to be provided in ways that people want and we are to address the issues people are concerned about, it is important that the public, private and voluntary sectors work closely together and combine their resources and expertise to achieve more for the people of Renfrewshire.
We are already working together with our partners on many issues and in many areas to improve the quality of life for people in Renfrewshire. Community planning builds on this work by bringing together organisations, communities and others to identify and prioritise what needs to be done and to plan, co-ordinate and deliver action to do it. The Community Plan (A Pattern for Partnership 2000-2010) describes how we will do this and what we want to achieve.
The Council, with its wide range of functions and democratic status, has the lead role in the community planning process.
