Renfrewshire Council is committed to ensuring that all employees, customers and partners are treated fairly and with respect at all times.

We are committed to promoting equality and tackling discrimination through the way services are planned, delivered and purchased.

The council promotes and encourages a culture whereby equality of opportunity exists for everyone regardless of race, gender, disability, age, religion or belief or sexual orientation.

We are positively and actively committed to ensuring that:

We work closely with the Equality and Human Right Commission in Scotland which has a statutory remit to promote and monitor human rights; and to protect, enforce and promote equality across the nine 'protected' grounds - age, disability, gender reassignment, marital status and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion and belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Our useful documents and publications section contains information and advice about various aspects of equality from a variety of different agencies.

You can also find out more by using each of the links below:

We work with partners and engage and consult with members of public in order to promote and encourage equality of opportunity for everyone regardless of race, age, gender, disability, religion or belief and sexual orientation.

Diversity and Equality Alliance in Renfrewshire (DEAR) brings together the Council and our community planning partners, community groups and organisations that are interested in promoting equality and diversity.
