Did you know that Renfrewshire Council spends more than £400m every year on services for our residents?
How do we pay for these services? Most of our funding (about four-fifths) comes from a grant from the Scottish Government.
In December 2011, the Scottish Government announced the grant available to every council.
How do we pay for these services? Most of our funding (about four-fifths) comes from a grant from the Scottish Government.
In December 2011, the Scottish Government announced the grant available to every council.
Based on that funding, councillors approved Renfrewshire's budget for 2012-2013 at their meeting of 16 January.
Reduced funding from the government means smaller budgets for councils. Everyone in local government has to deal with this challenge for the foreseeable future.
Renfrewshire is at the forefront of meeting that challenge with our twin aims of prioritising frontline services and delivering the council's strategic priorities. The benefits of our approach will become even more evident over the next year as the latest stages of the council's £1/4billion investment in schools, community and sports facilities, and council housing are completed.
There will have to be changes to services and there are more difficult times ahead. But Renfrewshire is as well placed as any council to support the community we serve.
