Introduction

In Renfrewshire, business premises are inspected to make sure that they are safe for employees to work in and for the public to visit. The inspection work is split between two agencies: the council's environmental services department inspect Renfrewshire's offices, shops and warehouses and the Health and Safety Executive inspect premises such as factories and building sites.

Environmental services health and safety team inspection brief covers approximately 2,300 commercial premises within Renfrewshire. These premises provide work for approximately 10,000 people.
