The Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 requires all housing authorities to prepare a Local Housing Strategy to:

• assess the housing needs of its area (both the privately-owned and rented sectors)
• outline plans to address those needs over a five year period

Renfrewshire's Housing Strategy 2004-2009 was launched in May 2004. This is the third annual update of the strategy. The update's purpose is to:

• review progress in 2006/07 in meeting the objectives and actions set out in the action plan
• highlight achievements
• take account of policy changes which impact on the Housing Strategy
• update and amend the action plan.
