Strategic Housing Investment Plan

Every council has to prepare a Strategic Housing Investment Plan for its area.
This plan shows how investment in affordable housing (through grant subsidies to housing associations for newbuild housing for social rent, shared equity and comprehensive tenement improvement) is targeted to achieve the outcomes set out in the council's Local Housing Strategy and its annual updates. Here is the latest update Local Housing Strategy 2007 Update.
We would like your comments and feedback on the draft Strategic Housing Investment Plan by Friday 21 November. Please send any written comments to Mark Campbell,Policy and Performance Team, Housing and Property Services, Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley PA1 1JD, or by email to policydevelopment.hps@renfrewshire.gov.uk. The draft plan is comprised of two parts:
- Narrative text is drawn from last year's Strategic Housing Investment Plan, but has been updated and shortened in line with new guidance issued by the
Scottish Government. It briefly explains the purpose of the plan and how it links to the Local Housing Strategy. It also explains what assumptions have been made about future funding and costs.
- Appendices show: projects completed up to 2007/2008; projects currently on site or which have Scottish Government grant approval; new projects for the future local Affordable Housing Investment programme and suggested prioritisation; and projects against the sub-area priorities agreed last year.
It should be noted that the information contained in the appendices is based on initial discussions with the Scottish Government's local area team and housing associations, and represents a 'snap-shot' of the local programme. Further work is in progress to collect detailed project planning information for inclusion in the final Strategic Housing Investment Plan which will be submitted to the Scottish Government by 28 November 2008.
