The Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 requires all housing authorities to prepare a Local Housing Strategy to:
- assess the housing needs of its area (both the privately-owned and rented sectors)
- outline plans to address those needs over a five year period
- review progress in 2005/06 in meeting the objectives and actions set out in the action plan
- highlight achievements
- take account of policy changes which impact on the Housing Strategy
- update and amend the action plan.
