Grey general waste bin

Your grey bin is collected every two weeks.

Please put your grey bin out on the kerbside by 7am on your collection day.

All non-recyclable items (general waste items that cannot be recycled) go into your grey bin.

This includes:

  • plant pots
  • pet waste
  • nappies
  • personal hygiene waste (not medical waste)
  • bin liners
  • plastic bags
  • polystyrene
  • non-recyclable food packaging
  • broken glass

Guidance for wheeled bins

  • Present correct bin on collection day where it is easy to access for the collectors.
  • Leave the bin with handles facing the roadway, but try to keep pavement clear for pedestrians
  • We collect bins from 7am to 6:30pm. If you cannot present on the morning of collection before 7am please present the night before.
  • Don't overfill bin and keep the lid closed.
  • If you have extra rubbish that cannot fit into your grey bin, please take it to your local Household Waste Recycling Centre or call to arrange a special uplift (there may be a charge for this service).  
  • We won't be able to collect your grey bin if it is overflowing, and we won't be able to collect extra rubbish bags left on the pavement.
  • Please put nappies and personal hygiene waste in a bag before putting into your grey bin. 
  • Medical waste cannot be put in your grey bin, Renfrewshire Council are not licensed to dispose of this type of waste.  Please contact your General Practitioner or Health Visitor.
  • Please return the bin to your property as soon as possible after we empty it.
  • Report any damaged bins to us.
  • Only put the correct waste in each of the bins.
  • Medical waste cannot be disposed off in your grey bin, Renfrewshire Council are not licensed to dispose of this type of waste, please contact your General Practitioner or Health Visitor for further advice.
  • Please keep bin(s) clean
