Marine Licence Decisions

This page explains the outcomes of the Marine Licence applications.

As detailed on the Marine Licence Application page, three Marine Licence applications have been made (two in relation to CWRR and one in relation to GAIA).

CWRR Marine Licence Applications

On 4th July 2017, Renfrewshire Council submitted applications to the Scottish Ministers under Part 4 of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 for the construction of the bridge, layby berth, outfalls, realignment of Yoker Burn and dredging activities associated with the Clyde Waterfront Renfrew Riverside ("CWRR") project ("the project"). The application was accompanied by an Environmental Impact Assessment Report ("EIA Report") as required under The Marine Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 (as amended) ("the 2017 MW Regulations").

Following due consideration and consultation, the Scottish Government ministers granted marine licences for the relevant works required as part of the CWRR project on 2nd August 2019.

GAIA Marine Licence Applications

On 4th July 2017, Renfrewshire Council submitted applications to the Scottish Ministers under Part 4 of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 for the construction of a road bridge over the White Cart Water, a foot/cycle bridge over the Black Cart Water and drainage outfalls for the construction of both bridges and the realigned Abbotsinch Road associated with the Glasgow Airport Investment Area ("GAIA") project ("the project"). The application was accompanied by an Environmental Impact Assessment Report ("EIA Report") as required under The Marine Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 (as amended) ("the 2017 MW Regulations").

Following due consideration and consultation, the Scottish Government ministers granted marine licences for the relevant works required as part of the GAIA project on 16th November 2018.
