Halloween Festival 2017

Get ready for Renfrewshire's winter events season

Renfrewshire is getting set for a spectacular winter events season with lots of free, family fun lined up for all the family!

Paisley's winter events programme will begin with the ever-popular Halloween Festival on Saturday 27 October, featuring sound and light installations, an enhanced parade and aerial performances. The fun continues with a special 90's themed Paisley Fireworks Spectacular on Saturday 3 November, before the annual Christmas Lights Switch On takes place two weeks later on Saturday 17 November.

Inspired by Paisley's dark and deathly 17th century witch history, the Halloween Festival is one of the major events as part of the Year of Young People 2018 celebrations.

More than 500 young people will parade through the streets of Paisley town centre in uniquely designed costumes alongside gruesome parade floats and entertainment from the Beltane Fire Society, Mr Wilson's Second Liners and the mesmerising Spark! LED drummers.

These will be a taster for the big finale performance, The Flying Witches, which will see performers swing 120ft above the crowds in Abbey Close.

Plus, Paisley Town Hall will play host to two costumed balls - one for 'unders' and the other for over 18s - on Friday 26 October.

The winter events excitement will extend across Renfrewshire with live music and free family entertainment taking place at Christmas Lights Switch Ons in Renfrew on Saturday 24 November and Johnstone on Saturday 1 December.

More information about each winter event will be revealed in the coming weeks.
