Vacant and Derelict Land Strategy

Annual surveys provide an evidence base for the formulation of policies and allocation of land within the Development Plan.

Renfrewshire Council undertakes monitoring and analysis of land supply in Renfrewshire. Annual surveys provide an evidence base for the formulation of policies and allocation of land within the Development Plan. The base date for the audits is the 31 of March each year.

This annual survey provides details of the vacant and derelict land supply, the types of sites and their distribution within Renfrewshire along with the development take-up of land by use.

The Renfrewshire Vacant and Derelict Land Strategy (2022) was approved by the Council's Planning and Climate Change Policy Board on 14th June 2022.

The strategy uses the information gathered from the annual survey and aims to support the Renfrewshire Local Development Plan 2021. The Vacant and Derelict Land Strategy identifies a number of actions to promote the redevelopment and/or re-use of brownfield and previously used land to enhance places and support sustainable economic growth.

Renfrewshire's vacant and derelict land is monitored annually through the preparation of the Renfrewshire Vacant and Derelict Land Survey with an updated strategy prepared every two years.
