Cars in front of Abbey at rally

On your marks for Monte!

I'm really excited for the car enthusiasts who will be coming along to see the spectacular vintage cars of the Monte Carlo Classic Rally, as it returns to Paisley once again on Wednesday 31 January.

Around 100 cars will set off from the start ramp at Abbey Close in three separate categories, with 25 of the classic cars beginning the epic 1,500-mile journey to the South of France.

This year will be the fifth time that Paisley has hosted the opening stage of the historic competition, which is also the only UK start point from seven European cities.

The start of the 2018 Monte Carlo Classic Rally will be bigger and better than ever with all the cars on display at Abbey Close from 4pm before setting off at 6pm.

Make sure you stop by Paisley Town Hall to enjoy a giant Scalextric set, Sega Rally arcade machine, children's workshops, face painting and refreshments from 4pm. I'm sure lots of mums and dads will also enjoy the activities!

Plus, there's still time to get your designs in for my Monte Carlo flag competition!

I asked Renfrewshire primary school pupils to design a fabulous flag to send the competitors on their way and the winner will join me on the start ramp to wave them off at the event.

Entries can be submitted to schools and local libraries by Monday 15 January - just remember to include your name, age, school and contact information with your entry.

Thousands turned out to experience the start of the Rally in Paisley in 2017 and I look forward to seeing you all there again this year.

Don't miss out on all the family fun at Abbey Close from 4pm on Wednesday 31 January!
