Johnstone Fire Engine Rally

I'm all fired up for an fun-filled afternoon in Johnstone

I can't wait to go along to the Johnstone Fire Engine Rally next Saturday (12 Aug) and join the community in marvelling at the history of the Fire Service.

The event has become increasingly popular each year and it looks like there will be another bumper attendance when the parade kicks off at 11:30am from Johnstone Fire Station.

The spectacle of fire engines, and other emergency vehicles, from throughout the ages is a sight to behold and gives a fascinating insight into how far technology has advanced in the past few decades.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service do a fantastic job in keeping us safe through education of the do's and don'ts, and also undertaking rescue operations when required.

It is important we recognise their bravery and their commitment to their jobs, and this event is a great way to do so.

There will be plenty on offer for the whole family to take part in including chip pan fire and car rescue demonstrations, falconry, a bouncy castle, face painting and music all afternoon.

All this will coincide with the display of the fire engines in Houston Square, allowing everyone to explore the vehicles and see how they have operated from the past to the present.

So gather your family and friends and head into Johnstone next Saturday for a fun-filled afternoon, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
