Council to consider recommendations to progress plans to upgrade Paisley Town Hall

Councillors will next week be asked to note plans to develop an investment programme of upgrading and modernising Paisley Town Hall.

The Council's ongoing maintenance programme has earmarked Paisley Town Hall as a key venue requiring investment which will include electrical upgrades. Officers are also recommending that options are developed as part of this work outlining additional improvements which could take place at the same time.

If approved, plans detailing how to modernise and future proof this architectural gem as a contemporary town centre venue will be reported back to councillors for their consideration later this year.

A spokesperson for Renfrewshire Council said: "Paisley Town Hall is an iconic building which forms an integral part of the town's bid for UK City of Culture 2021 as well as its heritage led regeneration agenda.

"This continued investment demonstrates the Council's commitment to support the development and regeneration of key venue properties which can host major events and attract visitors to the town."

If progressed, a programme of proposed works will be identified and presented to the Council for approval and a timescale for the works will be identified. Any approved works on the building would not be anticipated to start until late 2018.
