Renfrewshire Council

Community Covenant with the Armed Forces

Renfrewshire Council has signed a Community Covenant with the Armed Forces to build on the good relations between the Armed Forces, the council and partner organisations in the area.

The Covenant is a voluntary statement of mutual support which recognises and remembers the sacrifices made by those serving, veterans, their families/carers and surviving spouses.

The main aims of the Covenant are to:

  • encourage local communities to support the Armed Forces community in their area
  • raise awareness and understanding of the issues affecting the Armed Forces community
  • encourage activities which help to integrate the Armed Forces community into local life, and
  • encourage the Armed Forces community to support the wider local community.

Renfrewshire Council participates in the Strathclyde Firm Base Working Group which brings together representatives from the Armed Forces, local authorities and service charities from across the West of Scotland.

Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Councils also conduct regular meetings to share information about how local services can best meet the needs of the Armed Forces community.
