Charters and Chamber Pots: Aspects of Medieval Paisley

Home > Services > Leisure and Culture > Museums and Galleries > Exhibitions

Date: From 14 May
Venue: Paisley Museum and Art Galleries
Cost: Free

This year, there will be Europe-wide celebrations of the 1,100th anniversary of the establishment of the Abbey of Cluny in France. Cluny became the acknowledged leader of a whole network of priories across the continent, and Paisley Abbey was founded as a Cluniac monastery in 1163.

This exhibition aims to explore the wide-ranging influence of Paisley Abbey. It will feature medieval items from the collections including sculpted stones, carved woodwork, manuscripts and some of the material illustrating the daily life of the monks excavated from the Abbey's Great Drain.
